Learning Log Homework for 11.2.16

Fire Safety Assembly

This week, year 5 had a a special assembly about fire safety. Design a poster to educate others about fire safety. How can they prevent a fire from starting? What can they do to be prepared in case of a fire? What should people do if there is a fire in their house?

Use pictures and writing on your poster. Please use only one page in your learning log for this.

Literacy

On Thursday this week, year 5 was transformed into a Harry Potter style potions lab. You had the chance to create your own potions using the magical ingredients that were provided. Write a set of instructions for your own potion. What is your potion for? What is it called? Think about how the  Polyjuice potion WAGOLL that you read in class was written and use it as a guideline to help you write your instructions.

Maths

Practice answering the following questions in your learning log using the methods you’ve learnt in class. Please show your working out.

1) 739 x 34                             4) 545 ÷ 5

2) 547 x 54                            5) 823 ÷ 6

3) 385 x 78                            6) 838 ÷ 4

7) In assembly we have to sit in rows of 16. If there are 196 children in the hall, how many full rows of six will there be?

8) Molly writes 54÷3 = 18 on her whiteboard. Her friend Kajal says it’s wrong. Who is right? How do you know?

‘I have a Dream’ project

If you didn’t get a chance to finish your positivity poem in class, please complete it before next Friday (12.2.16).

Also, please practice the ‘Yes you can’ song by Donnie McClurkin.

Homework is due in on Thursday 11th February.
